Biography

Shalaka is an Associate Attorney in our Litigation Team. She completed her B.A. Jurisprudence (LL.B) at the University of Oxford and a Master of Laws (LL.M) at UCLA. Shalaka has a background in human rights and international law. Before joining the firm, she was an intern for the Honorable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Namibia, through the Bonavero Institute for Human Rights. She has had the privilege of working with refugees in Beirut, and communities fighting for water rights, women's rights, and access to justice in Honduras.

Shalaka represents clients before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (Immigration Court/EOIR) and the Asylum Office. She also works on appellate litigation including briefs and arguments before the Board of Immigration Appeals and Federal Circuit Courts. Shalaka is a passionate advocate for her community and is committed to the fight for equal justice for all immigrants.
