Originally from Rhode Island, Elise McCaffrey graduated from Brown University where she majored in Visual Art. After traveling in Guatemala in 2004, Elise devoted a year to teaching English as a Second Language before deciding to enroll in a Masters program in Intercultural Service through the School for International Training in Vermont. She concentrated her studies on immigration and militarization of the U.S./Mexico border and the increased use of interior enforcement and detention post-9/11. Elise spent a year working at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project in Arizona as part of the Children's Rights Initiative, providing legal services to minors in immigration detention. Elise is excited to continue working on immigration cases and to spend time hiking by the ocean in California.
